Instead of new years resolutions I have been working on a list of goals (101) to do in 1001 days. Here is a look at my progress.
1. Learn to drive in snow and ice
(I've been practicing this one)
2. Make a quilt thats not jean (twister quilt)
3. Participate in Just because gift Challenge http://mylifeasacraftaholic.blogspot.com/2010/01/just-because-gift.html
( working on it)
4. Make a tutorial for something I made
5. Get certified to be a teacher
(complete!!)
6. Evaluate my goals monthly (yep)
7. Go on a date with Travis once a month (yep)
8. Bear my testimony in Church on Fast Sunday or Speak in Sacrament (complete)
9. Drink 8 glasses of water a day for a week (complete)
10. Write Buddy on his mission every other week
11. Find a way to stay motivated
12. Run a half marathon or do a triathlon (not even close!)
13. Work out 3 times a week for 3 months ( not yet)
14. Write down 50 things I like about myself (not yet)
15. Get family picture taken every year (1/3)
16. Buy a CTR ring for my pinky finger
17. Mark at least one verse in every page of the Book of Mormon
18. Sell my crafts

29. Don't laugh at others expense. Stick up for them (working on it)
30. Help Travis graduate from the Sports Management program at WSU
31. Paint a room in my apartment
32. Go home 4 times (3/4)
33. Start a Journal of me and Travis’ relationship
34. Earn In-State tuition at WSU (complete!!)
35. Help Travis get a scholarship
36. Help Travis get an internship
37. Do something creative and cute (as a surprise) once a month for Travis
38. Make a list of characters in the scriptures and their attributes that I want to emulate
39. Evaluate my Christ-like attributes (in PMG) every 3 months

I made this case out of a table cloth fabric that is kinda vinyl on one side but soft on the other. Then covered the edges with bias tape and made a little bow. This was for my sister

My Brother in Law and Sister in Law are moving to Texas. I wanted to make them a picnic blanket to use in all that sunshine they'll be getting. They have kids so I thought it would be fun to make a twister game on one side. I also made a bag and spinner board

last year I made Travis' dad a jean quilt. He loves it an not the best at sharing it with my Mother in Law. So after finding her the perfect sailboat duct/canvas fabric I knew I had to make her her own.
I used triangles in varying shades of denim to creat pinwheels, diamonds and chevon stripes all in the same quilt

I made my friend Brenna this dress for her b-day. I was so nervous that it wouldn't fit because since I am pregnant I wasn't the best model to go off of. But she loved it and wore it on Sunday and she looked great! I used this tutorial for inspiration, but actually made the bottom part (skirt) out of a dress that was too short. Even easier!

I made these necklaces for my mother and mother in law for mothers day gifts. I saw these on Etsy... but it was pricey and I'm on a budget so with a friend I made one for my mom and mil and she did too for 5 dollars. Then I showed them off any ended up making and selling 10 more. Then I gifted about 10 more and 2 pairs of dangly earrings so ya it was a pretty good deal :)

SO if your mother's day gift wasn't everything you hoped I could make you one of these too. It looked so cute with one or two eggs too. And I made some with white eggs that were darling as well.

A new Dress

Ok so I am totally kicking myself because I didn't take a "before" picture of the sweater. But imagine Travis' Dad giving me a sweater that is a Eddie Baurer XL 100% wool sweater. I LOVED it but obviously it was WAY too big. I had to save it from the Goodwill pile and turn it into something. SO I did what any other craftaholic would do, I repurposed it. I cut off the sleeves. I flipped it inside out and fit it to my shape with pins, cut off the extra and surged it back together. and TADA perfect new dress. I wore it out to our valentines dinner! It is even cuter in person! So next time you have a huge sweater... give it a try!

*I totally turned the sleeves into a scarflette!

Paper bag book

I have wanted to make a paperbag book ever since I saw my friend Liz at work make one. They are these cute little scrapbooks made out of lunch sacks. You cut off the bottom and staple them together and then decorate the bags. then you make pages to slip inside the bags. Anyways it was a perfect gift for a co-workers going away gift. She left this month after 10 years at the center. She really made me feel welcome when I started so I wanted to make sure she knew we were really going to miss her. Here is the book. The pages weren't done by my co-workers so I don't have any pictures of them but you get the idea when you see mine "dark blue room" at the end.

Valentine's Day Crafts

I made this heart wreath out of some "grandma" fabric I got for free. I made over 90 rosettes/roses on it. It was a lot of hot glue but I love how it turned out. I just cut a heart out of cardboard then wrapped it in white fabric strips and went to town making flowers.

I made this love banner with some letters I had on hand and ribbon I got from Christie
She sent me a whole box full of valentines embellishments that I can't wait to create with. So there will be a lot more to come!

I made Nala's and Bandits out of the sleeves. Pretty much all I did was cut the leg holes in the right spot.

Bronx's was the chest part of the sweater. I had to shorten it and take it in at the waist... He is very oddly shaped. I love the half zip :)

Crafts or Lessons

So lucky me I had to get a BIG filling to cure I damaged tooth. Since Travis and I are on a TIGHT budget I am not looking forward to paying for this bad boy.
I was thinking that maybe I could make ends meet by making and selling some of my crafts. Or teaching someone to sew or help them with a project.
If you look at this blog you have seen some of the things I've made. I can make a lot more as well. I've done a couple of craft fairs too where I sold earrings, hair bows and I-spy bags.

First Freezer Paper Project

Ok I am officially in LOVE with freezer paper. I made this for a friend's birthday. It says "unlimited MPG" with a bike because she rides her bike to work everyday. Nuts!

I used the freezer paper idea from Make it and Love it
I used the draw string bag from Notes from a Red Kitchen with a few tweeks of my own (like I ran two strings, one wrapping each way, so you can pull the sting from both sides.)

Side note if you haven't been to either of these blogs you should. Both are just AMAZING and I am officially obsessed!

The craft room!

I am SO excited to finally show you my craft room! Where my creative magic occurs. I spent MLK day/Human rights day working on organizing it!

I used my antique window box to help organize. I sorted my buttons and embroidery floss by color and also made easy access to my scissors and glue gun.

And more girly decorations of my favorite things, meaningful cards and photos

Here is another view of my closet and left wall. I got the Taylor Lautner poster from my BF Jaimie (love her!) I keep all of my "to do" projects on the wire shelf. Also I freed up some space on the little table for a hot glue station.

And last all of my ribbon and supplies in mason jars. someday I want this on a shelf but for now it is on my window sill. I love love me some mason jars.

Ruby Lou Doll

I have been drooling over the Ruby Lou Pattern over at Sew Much Ado for forever... well at least a year anyways
She was having a sale so I got the pattern 1/2 off and it was a great buy.
I plan on making plenty more of these adorable little ones!

SIL purse

I'm not very good at remembering to take pictures of the things I make. I made almost all of my Christmas presents this year and this is the only one I remembered to document with photos. I am going to try to do better at this. New years goal!

I pretty much made up this pattern myself using some of the techniques I took from various projects in One Yard Wonders. My sil picked out the fabric and kinda told me the size and type of strap and I created it for her. Then I filled it full of assessories and such, necklaces, scarves, hair clips, you know that kind of stuff.

I took a ton of pictures trying to capture it's cuteness but I still need a lot of work. Here are the best details.

The stap is long enough to go over the head across the body but short enough to just flip over the shoulder. The stap is dark blue on one side and teal on the other. The bottom is flat. It is fully lined with teal

Here is the Flower and ruffle detail. I love how it makes the bag stand out. I love the color and texture combo as well.

She loved it and loved all the little gifties inside. Yay for a successful Christmas.

Christmas Ornament Exchange

I did an online gift exchange and got a cute ornament from a stranger but it was just wonderful. I sent her letter pictures of her family's last name.

I also love these little shoes my friend Christie sent me! I love them. I am going to hang them on the bulletin board in my craft room when Christmas is over because I couldn't stand to put them in a box. I love love love them!

To make the flowers I cut out 3 flowers on my Cricut and laid the over top of each other.
Using white ink and a doily stamp I stamped and then cut out the boarder for the picture.

Family Cards

I made these cards for a college class my husband too. I printed out pictures of all of my family and husbands family and laminated them. I made them for my "future" children so they can see their family members.

Scripture Case

I made a new case for my scriptures and designed the pattern. My friend Christie really wanted to make some for her kids so I explored how to make a pattern. I loved how it turned out and I am going to make some with her and look for the perfect fabric for mine.

Apron cooking set

I made this fun apron, and hot pads set for my friend Mindy's birthday. I semi followed a pattern in One yard wonders but then added a little bit of personal touches!

Puzzle

My Husband and I made this puzzle we got for Christmas and sealed it with glue and framed it to hang in our living room. Simple craft that looks great!

Lamp Shade

I finally redid the hideous lampshade on my Eiffel Tower Lamp. Here are some Before and After Pictures.

I made the ruffles by cutting up a black blouse I never wore and attaching the strips and gathering them. Then I used an old dictionary and used paper mache (flour water combo) to put the pages onto the lamp. I really like how it turned out.

MINKEE!!

Minkee is the softest material out there. I love it. I have been drooling over the kits at Porters crafts ever since I first saw it. It's only down fall is its price. It is $20 a yard. So the kits are pretty pricey and you still need to buy the back, the batting and the adhesive. But when my mom was down visiting for the weekend she graciously bought my sister and I both kits for me to make! I was so excited I had them both done within 72 hours of my mom leaving! They turned out pretty good. Clara's is pink cheetahlicious and mine is an array of green and brown patterns. Here are some pics of mine:

And I will end with some tips.
*This kit is not for beginners. It is very heavy and slippery so you have to have a lot of control.
*Use adhesive. I ran out at the end of the second quilt and found it much cheaper at the store instead of the craft store. It helps keep the back attached the the batting and the strips tight.
*Sew Quickly without stopping if possible. I spaced out my pins so that I could sew a couple of inches before I had to stop.
* Since it was such a big quilt kit (60x72) it is heavy. I rolled up the edges and sewed on the opposite side of the table so the table could hold up the quilt.
*It is totally worth it! It is very forgiving of crooked stitches and ridiculously soft and irresistible!

Baby Bird Mobile

I have been working on a whole nursery bed set for my God-daughter (Who was 2 weeks early and born Wednesday!)So I had to quickly finish the Mobile. I made these little birdies with a pattern from One yard Wonders. I think it turned out really cute. Now I just have to figure out a way to hang it. More pictures of the nursery to come!!

Craft Organization

When my sister moved back I lost my craft room. (But love her so its totally fine) So I had to move a lot of my craft stuff into boxes and put it in the shed. But some of the more important craft essentials I still wanted to be able to access them every day so I purchased an old vintage hard cased suitcase from a thrift store. It has this neat separation screen so I can hold things on both sides. Now I can hold my work in progress crafts as well as materials I use often. It stores perfectly under my bed. And when ever I go over to my friend Christie's I can tote it all around! I have plans to line it and create pockets with coordinating fabric but until then here are a few pictures.

Christie's Purse

Here is the pictures of Christie's bag we made. The pattern was out of the One Yard Wonder Book. It was pretty tricky for Christie's first purse but it was Flawless!

Christie did such a great job. It took us a while (4 hours) but she has sewing stamina just like me so we finished it in one night! She took these photos with her amazing camera taking abilities... like I said before she is very talented... she wears lots of hats very well! (photographer, chef, scrapbook and crafter extraordinaire, mom of two, secretary for Wolfe Lighting etc!)

Are you ready for something absolutely precious!

Meet Elodie. She is an adorable elephant I made this weekend.

I love the ears! It can sit on its own. I made it with fleece so it is super soft!

When I finished the pattern I decided it needed a personal touch so I appliqued 2 little hearts then hand stitched around them. I put one on the chest and one on the bum!

Now I really need to make another one so I can keep it for myself!

Grasshopper changing pad, diaper case and toys

I made the cutest little diaper case and pad out of this fun grasshopper fabric for a friends baby shower gift. She is having a boy but I thought this would be perfect for gender neutral.

The case is fully lined and is perfect to take to church or on a quick outing to pack a couple of diapers and a wipes case.

I made this pad to go with it! I used my new sewing machine to make a cool stitch along the edge. I love it!

I also made these cute little tag toys. The triangle has a chip bag inside so it make a krinkle noise. The cube has a little rattle I made with a container and so rice. I think they will be perfect with little hands. I made up the patterns for both of these toys.

Baby Bowties

I made up this pattern and made two of these on my lunch break! I love them and can't get enough. They take the smallest amount of fabric so its perfect for scraps. I sewed velcro to the strap and made it longer so it was more adjustable. I gave them to a friend for her baby shower but need to make more so my future bulldog Wendall can wear them!! cute!

Rose Jumper with shoes and headband

Another Baby shower gift... surprise surprise.

For my friend Sarah I picked out this vintage rose fabric and knew it would be a beautiful dress! This dress was a pattern from the "one yard wonders" It is a jumper for an 6 month old or a shirt for a toddler. Pretty neat!

I couldn't help but make some cute accessories to go with it

I made this headband as a smaller version of the ones i like to wear. It has elastic but you also tie it to give it a cute look. I made some fabric yo-yos and glued buttons on it to make it extra cute

These shoes were so so adorable. I designed the pattern myself and they tie around the back of the ankle. I am sad I didn't have a baby model! I hope they fit!

Purse and Trash bag

52 reasons book out of cards

This is a simple cute project I did for my husband for Valentines. I typed out 52 reasons why I loved him and then cut and glued one reason to each card. I used the jokers to make a "title page" and a back cover

Cricut Cards!

So if you don't know what a Cricut is I will tell you. It is a personal die-cut machine that has these cartridges that create letters or shapes at a touch of a button. Basically they are amazing!!
So I got to work today and made cards!! I also made some samples to send to my sister in laws and my mother in law. They are big into scrapbooking and card making!

Valentine's Day cards for kids

I used white felt, surged around the edge and then made slits so I could tuck in the ends and keep it closed. I bought plastic safety pins at the dollars store and hot glued them on!

Frogger Baby Set

Then later this week I am going to a baby shower for someone I work with. She is having a boy. I recently bought a book called "One Yard Wonders" and I made all of this with one yard of fabric. Cheap fabric too! I thought the frogs we so cute and fun! I made a tag/tactile blanket, a bib, a pair of booties, 4 burp cloths and 4 "wee wee wigwams" (tutorial on Make it of Love it!) and then appliqued my favorite froggie on a onesie! Not bad for a yard of fabric!

Start of the Man Blanket

I spent the afternoon teaching Mindy how to quilt. We are making a "Man Blanket" for her husband. And let me tell you it is manly. Just the size will blow your mind 6 feet by 9 feet!! And this isn't for their bed, just for him to use. He picked out all the fabrics and we just smiled and said over and over "it's a man's blanket" We did get the boy's to come into Porter's!! It was a success!

Mattoon Family Photos Display

Over Thanksgiving, we got our photos taken with Travis' side of the family. I just got my copies of the family shot, the "sisters", the brothers and the "kids". I thought they turned out so great a really show off our personalities and style.

Anyways I wanted to display them so went to Porters to get frames or a multiframe mat of some sort and instead I found a really neat shadow box. Opal and I searched through the scrapbooking stuff and gathered supplies. Then I went home and created this:

Baby Comforter

I made this quilt for my Best Friend Mindy's baby Madison who will be born in May!

I appliqued the letters of the alphabet, then stitched around each letter. To quilt i stitched in the ditch of top. I love it. I used 2 inches of batting so it is very full and I used fleece so it is super soft.

A scrappy layout for a shadow box display

My good work friend Christie is so CRAFTY! She is amazing with paper! I had this picture I just love of travis and his Grandpa Orville. So I really wanted to make it into a page and frame it in a shadow box. Christie is especially good at making things look antique. SO I made a trade if she helped me make this page I'd help her sew a new purse. So tonight we made this page.

I took some close ups so you could see the detail! Christie is so good at attention to detail and just loved all the stuff she taught me to do! This is the first of many I am sure!
